Day 1 (Sunday, August 20) - Ferry to Salt Spring Island. (Meeting time and place will be sent you once you have signed on to the tour). Setting up camp at Ruckles Park. Exploring Ruckles Park and sharing the first collective meal prepared by all.
 

Day 2 (Monday, August 21) - Relaxed morning breakfast and exploration of campground. Exploring Salt Spring Island and vineyard visit. Camping at Ruckles Park.


Day 3 (Tuesday, August 22) - Full day of island exploring including visit to Stowel Lake Farm and master cheese maker David Wood of Salt Spring Island Cheese. Camping at Ruckles Park.


Day 4 (Wednesday, August 23) - Morning nature walk with park naturalist followed by visit to Heather Campbell's wood fired bread oven. Lunch in Ganges and organic wine tasting at nearby Mistaken Identity Vineyards. Camping at Ruckles Park.
 

Day 5 (Thursday, August 24) - Relaxed day of island exploring. Afternoon swim in Cusheon Lake. Camping at Ruckles Park.
 

Day 6 (Friday, August 25) - Departure for Port Alberni via Crofton, Nanaimo and Cathedral Grove. Night in Port Alberni.
 

Day 7 (Saturday, August 26) - Early morning departure for Bamfield and 5 hour boat ride down Barkley Sound. Arrival in Bamfield early afternoon, orientation and walk to Brady's Beach for swimming and beachcombing. Welcome dinner.
 

Day 8 (Sunday, August 27) - Fishing for wild salmon, black cod, rockfish, crabs and shrimp for a traditional west coast feast. Collective dinner preparation and cooking. Learning to make 'bannock bread'.
 

Day 9 (Monday, August 28) - Foraging and picnic hike to Kiixin', the ancient village of the Huu-Ay-Yat group of the Nuu-chah-nuhlt people.
 

Day 10 (Tuesday, August 29) - Early morning fishing for those inclined. Afternoon visit of the Marine Science Centre followed by a visit with Louis Druehl, one of the world's foremost seaweed experts who directs Canadian Kelp Resources. Possibility of a hike and swim at Sarita Falls.

 

Day 11 (Wednesday, August 30) - Pizza bread day. Everyone participates in making dough and seasonings and helping to split wood for the oven.
 

Day 12 (Thursday, August 31) - A free day to explore and swim and relax with a final campfire cookout. Roasting marshmallows and live music.
 

Day 13 (Friday, Sept 1) - Drive from Bamfield to Nanaimo to get ferry back to Vancouver or bus to Victoria.
